My Priorities

Enviroment

C0 2

We know about the case of little Ella who died because of toxic air pollution. Toxic air pollution causes over 4,000 deaths each year in London and this is a key issue I want to address if elected. Recent tests in Childs Hill show that NO2 levels were significantly above the WHO’s ‘safe limit’. I will work with residents to

1. Plant more tree or shrubs on kerbside spaces

2. Fight for more electric car and bike charging points

3. Ensure that we provide access to more rental bikes

4.  Set up meetings with environmental professionals and residents to discuss affordable ways of transforming homes to become more energy sustainable

Safety and Security

42% of the 400 residents I have spoken to in Childs Hill had concerns about safety in their neighbourhood. I will work with the council and residents to –

1.Spearhead the creation of community safety hub

2.Support the investment of £780,000 to be put towards CCTV and better lighting across Barnet

Services

Under the Conservatives, Barnet Council have outsourced over 70% of services. As a result millions of pounds have been lost in overspending (£2m in fraud, £8 for answering the library phone, £1,500 for a training session) and over 2,000 Council employees have gone. We need to urgently plan to bring back services under the Council’s control.

In the future I will

1. Push for the council to immediately assess our provision of services including, roads, customer services and planning.

2. Support local community centres and provide facilities and programmes to reskill workers, stimulate young minds and provide a social hub for our seniors.

3. Put safeguards in place for children and young people offering access to mental health education and development support
